Clinical Approach
As an integrative therapist, my approach is customized to what works best for you. While I draw from a wide variety of treatment approaches, principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic therapy, and psychodynamic therapy will frequently inform the work we do together.
ACT is an evidence-based form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), incorporating mindfulness and acceptance practices with the goal of helping you to clarify and move toward what truly matters to you, especially when difficult thoughts and feelings are present. I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy for OCD from an ACT perspective, aiming to help you live a more full, flexible life, where you (not your OCD) call the shots.
The focus of psychodynamic therapy is the exploration of your emotions, thoughts, and relationships. We will identify possible patterns and themes, often looking toward the past as a way to understand your current experiences.
The goal of humanistic therapy is to explore with openness and acceptance, your subjective experience and sources of meaning and purpose, with the goal of uncovering and supporting your innate capacity for growth and change.
Our work together will be collaborative, honoring what matters most to you and what kind of change you want to see in your life.
